This month's presentation will be provided by James H. Pope, General Manager who was appointed General Manager of the Northern California Power Agency in January 2004.  Click here for James' Full Biography. The Lodi Energy Center will be one of the first facilities in the country to take advantage of "fast‐start" gas turbine technology, raising overall efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent compared to traditional combined‐cycle plants.

The flexibility associated with this technology will promote and enable even further future investment in intermittent renewable resources such as wind and solar. Additionally, with the ability to cycle up or down more readily, the LEC can quickly respond to changes in electricity prices, reducing overall costs to the consumer. The natural gas power plant is located on 4.4 acres at the city of Lodi's White Slough wastewater plant and will generate 280 megawatts of power of which Lodi will receive 30.
