Please join us at Sofia Restaurant for appetizers, a technical presentation, and networking at our August Mixer!

All members and non-members are welcome!  This will be a great opportunity to meet other young civil engineers in the Sacramento community and to learn about the different institutes of the ASCE Sacramento Section.  RSVP is not required.

This month's presentation will be provided by Jill Henrikson and Dew Le of Nolte Associates.  Their topic will be about the Fairfield Reservoir Assessment Project.

Nolte Associates is successfully completing a project with the City of Fairfield that included the assessment of their existing 11 potable water storage reservoirs. The City’s reservoirs range in size from one million gallons (MG) to 16 MG in size, and were constructed between 1976 and 2006. Six of the reservoirs are buried concrete tanks and the remaining five are above ground steel tanks. The City identified the need to assess the interior and exterior condition as well as the operational condition of all eleven reservoirs.

The assessments consisted of site inspections from our engineering staff including structural, site, mechanical, as well as experts in electrical, tank coatings, and cathodic protection systems. The structural assessments included seismic analysis for each tank to confirm design to current standards. The project led to a series of rehabilitation improvements at each reservoir (tank) which Nolte prioritized. Nolte is assisting the City with the design and construction of those improvements. The presentation will focus on the steps taken to complete the reservoir assessments as well as a summary of the implementation schedule and subsequent projects with the City.
