Please join us at David Ford Consulting for appetizers, a technical presentation, and networking at our May Mixer!

This month's presentation will be provided by a Ron Heinzen who is a registered GE and senior principal at Kleinfelder, Inc. in Stockton, CA. He was named Engineer of the Year in 2008 by the San Joaquin Engineer's Council.  Over the 36 years of his career, he has been involved in many professional organizations including ASCE.

Ron's presentation will be on "The Challenges of building in Downtown Stockton around Old Slough and Soft Soil Deposits".  Stockton is located at the head of the San Joaquin Delta; historically, many old slough and river channels meandered through the city.  Gradually the low ground and sloughs have been filled by the development of buildings and roadways.  It hasn't been easy.  Ron will describe how to successfully build in tough areas where there might be buried burn heaps, old car bodies, shredded rubber, peat, and cow hides.
